Timothee Chalamet Oscar's panic as Marty Supreme loses all 11 nominations at BAFTAs

📅 24/02/2026

Marty Supreme, a film helmed by actor Timothée Chalamet, which sees him take on the role of a table tennis prodigy, failed to win any awards at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards

Timothée Chalamet delivered a spectacular performance in Marty Supreme, but the film failed to take home any awards at the BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday night (February 22).

The 30-year-old actor portrayed table tennis player Marty Mauser - loosely based on real-life star Marty Reisman - in the 1950s-set drama, which follows his quest to become a world champion. Despite widespread acclaim, the film failed to win, even though it was nominated for multiple categories, including Best Picture. The Josh Safdie–directed drama earned 11 nominations but tied the record for the most losses in a single BAFTA year, joining Women in Love (1969) and Finding Neverland (2004), which also went winless despite 11 nods.

On the red carpet, Chalamet, known for his daring fashion choices, kept it understated in a loose-fitting all-black tuxedo. He was joined by girlfriend Kylie Jenner, 28, who looked stunning in a black sequined dress. Following a tweet from DiscussingFilm that read, “‘MARTY SUPREME’ has tied the record for most losses for a singular film at the BAFTAs ever,” fans were left fuming.

They instantly shared their shock, as one person wrote, “Tied the record for most losses?? That’s painful but also kinda iconic. A second person added, “Tough break for Marty Supreme, but hey, even records like that get people talking! A third film fan simply wrote, “That’s brutal. What went wrong?” However, others shared words of encouragement as one person penned, “No worries, Timothée Chalamet is coming for that Oscar.”

A second social media user added, “Getting a record for most losses is insanely Marty Mauser coded. So even though it's my favorite movie of 2025 that isn't chainsaw man I approve."the-mirror-icon_entertainment_movies_timothee-chalamet

A third said, “Tough night for ‘MARTY SUPREME,’ but sometimes recognition isn’t just about wins. Every film has its moment to shine - here’s hoping for a comeback next year!

Elsewhere in the night, Chalamet and Jenner were left unimpressed following a joke from host Alan Cumming. Walking between the rows of seats, Alan, carrying a basket full of chips and other snacks, approached the pair.

"Now, Timothée and Kylie. Can I interest you in a packet of Scampi Fries?" Alan said as he passed Timothée a bag of fish-flavored chips. The crowd chuckled as Timothée took the bag, with Kylie awkwardly smiling in the background.

The Traitors US host and comedian then turned to Kylie, adding, "Kylie, have you ever had your gums around a Giant Jammie Dodger?" with the reality star shrugging as she took the bag. A Jammie Dodger is a British biscuit with jam in the middle.
